What Makes West Virginia So Great?

All across West Virginia people are celebrating West Virginia day.  On June 20, 1863 WV was officially proclaimed a state.  I am so personally grateful for this day because I truly believe West Virginia is one of the best states to live in. 

Bloggers across West Virginia are celebrating today with their individual reasons on why they believe the same.  Jason Keeling, creator of abetterwestvirginia.com has reached out to unite bloggers across WV in a noble effort to shine a brighter light on why West Virginia is so great.

From my personal view I would have to say that West Virginia’s greatest asset is it’s people.  In times of disaster West Virginians have always reached out to give a hand.  Our firefighters were there for the people of New York after 911.  Our students have traveled to Louisiana to help folks recovering from hurricane Katrina.  There is no doubt in my mind that our people will be there to help victims of the recent Mississippi floods.  These are only a few examples of how West Virginians are passionate about giving.

So, when I hear negative news and sarcasm about WV in the media I remind myself that criticism is autobiographical.

  1. Rebecca - Thanks for continuing to fight the good fight. And no need to apologize! Shouldn’t helping a neighbor be more important than writing an extra paragraph or two? I’m very glad to know about your blog and look forward to following along in the future.

Well said rebecca…I’ve lived in several states in the surrounding area and I have to say that WV has some of the best People in the country..they are caring, supportive and always willing to help a neighbor…I was born and raised in these beautiful hills and its about time we the people stood proud and let the world know…there is nothing like these country roads to take you home!!
